Hello Rob,

Without a doubt, I strongly recommend Chessmaster 6000 or 7000. This program
will offer teaching perfectly suitable for beginners, and up to the intermediate
level. This means that your child can learn and keep on learning even beyond the
beginner stage. There are personalities to play against from the absolute
patzers on up to master level. It is also a fun program to both use and play
against. Your child should find it extremely useful for he/she can set up
tournaments with other personalities and also play rated games. I believe all
this, and the tutorials, will motivate him/her to stick with the game, have fun,
and improve greatly from the beginner stage. Investing in this program, I
believe, will be very rewarding for both the child and you. Also, almost forgot
to mention, there is voice analysis to help your child even further.

Regards,
Mel
