Indeed. I guess they are learning. Forfeiting when circumstances beyond control
intrude such as internet problems is simply too incompetent for words. When Gary
Kasparov started up the now defunct PCA he wanted to model it after the
PGA in order to raise the level of chess to Professional Golf. Friends and
relatives ask me periodiaclly, "what's new in chess", as they now it's my hobby.
I relayed the story of the Deep Junior - Adams fiasco and as avid sports fans
they simply shake their heads and laugh. They do not really follow chess but
all seem to remember the Fischer-Spassky antics of 1972 (ok we're all old guys)
and lump such embarrassing chess moments (as DJ - Adams) into
that same category.
