Subject: Everybody loves an underdog or a martyr (Deep Junior)

Dear Computer Chess Club,

Deep Junior stood up for itself and technically defeated GM M. Adams fair and
square. Now that the match was adjudicated a win by forfeit for Adams we are
all feeling a bit aggravated about it. That is good. It means that we all have
a sense of justice and like things done fairly.

Don't worry about Juniors playing ability or about the humans playing it in the
future. It will be done and is merely a progression in the strengthening of
computer chess. We need not be in a hurry to have the perfect chess computer
opponent. Whether we are playing a real human or a chess computer it all comes
from the human mind.

So just enjoy these technological marvels and each others' good company. Life
is short and there is no necessity to continually fight each other.

Sincerely,

Tim Frohlick
