You pose an interesting point. I can see that fact that it was getting late and
each ticking moment was obviously on DJ's side for it never is affected by
fatigue. They gave another excuse as to why DJ was pulled out and that was
because the current Adams-Seirawan battle was going on concurrently. I don't
believe this holds water though, if it did then Adams wouldn't have been able to
return to play Kaspy the very next day. Why then couldn't Adams have returned
the next day and play junior. One last point. Did you happen to see the harry
position Adams was in when the connection went down. I'm no Gm but I challenge
someone to show how adams was going to get out of the mess he was obviously in.
I suspect that the organizers of the event started to realize it was somewhat
unfair to match human whit against DJ at one hour time controls. Hence they most
likely created a situation to have it eliminated from play. I don't want to
start rumors but anything is possible. This is probably good news and I don't
think that we should treat this as a man vs. machine failure but as a new
horizon in chess. Computers I finally in a position where they can excellerate
the advancement of chess. This is something that we should embrace.
