As the author of the program, I can tell you that the new settings result in an
improved engine.
I know because I have tested for a long time. This is why the information has
not been published together with the commercial release, but later. So it's not
just that I believe the settings are better, I can say that objectively it has
performed better in my experiments.
These settings are an improvement in search knowledge. The program's positional
understanding (whatever this means) is unchanged, but Tiger can go deeper in the
same amount of time.
The result is that the program plays stronger.
I estimate the improvement to be 20 to 25 elo points above the version that has
been tested by the SSDF (Tiger 12.0 DOS).

If somebody wants to experiment with these settings, it's fine with me. I would
like to hear about the results.
