If you can get both as the fastest, why not build one with that combination.
Bus is like the number of lanes in a freeway, the more lanes the freeware has,
the less bottleneck it will have. It's like driving in rush hour when one of the
lanes get closed for repair or an accident occurred. It will slown the traffic
to a snail crawl. CPU is important for number crunching, so the fast the CPU,
the faster it will get the solution. Chess engines are more CPU dependent,
IMHO, than BUS speed. Of course a fast BUS will help the transfer of information
from RAM to CPU, but in the end I believe that CPU speed is the key to chess
engines. It would be quite different if it was a 3D game or a Ray tracing
program, than BUS speed would be more crucial than CPU power. Hope this helps.
