Nice post. One of my favorite chess books is "My Best Games of Chess 1908 - 1937" by Alekhine. This game is in there from Hastings, 1922. The exclams are the same as Alekhine's so Chernev must have copied Alekhine's original annotation. Alekhine's favorite move from this game is 40. ... Qe2. His games are amazing.
