Subject: Has anyone any experience with this feature?

Hello, can anyone tell me of their experience with the Shredder program, (and
Genius/Nimzo 2000), and the feature below in particular. The plan to study 1930,
or 1980 theory _only_ with a mere slidor move, seems especially appealing to
me, especially with John Watsons, 'Secrets of Modern Chess Strategy', in my
other hand:)

I am very much thinking of getting the program (the 'addiction' must be fed:)),
and I like the upgrade price of 129 DM (thats about $75 dollars, right?), is a
great deal for 6 CD's...

From www.computerchess.com/ page,

The opening book of Shredder 4 is presented as position tree, offering the user
all possibilities to edit, add, replace, cut or comment the book lines at own
convenience. Of course it is as easy as can be to create own, specialized book.
A brandnew feature is the years slider, which forces Shredder to play
exeptionally newer aged or more classic lines. Shredder 4 allways notes, at wich
time a game was played and therefore can use this unique function very precise.
As well, other book formats can be imported and reformatted as well as databeses
or just special parts of them, for example only all w -victories of Anatoly
Karpov. The moves are displayed in a tabular form and can be sorted just by
clicking into the header line. As well it’s easy to comment every single move
just via a right click of the mouse onto the move. As well, it’s now possible to
set up within Shredder 4, if he’s playing against a computerized or human
opponent. Even certain moves can be flagged with this criteria. ( c / h flags )

To give just one excample, Shredder 4 would allways play 1. e4-e6 2.d4-d5 and
now...ed5 against a human. Shredder 4 now notices a bad score or refutations in
a line. Example for this feature : a move has been played for a thousand times
with a 55 % score. In the last games the score went down to a 10 % margin.
Shredder 4 is able to detect this and will immediately lower down the preference
for this specific move.
