If your problem is so easy to reproduce, then it should be pretty easy to fix.

There are some programs that you can run overnight to test your memory, but it
sounds like you could just take out your original 64MB for a while and see if
the problems go away.

Another possible problem is overheating... but I think it's safe to assume that
the processor itself is not causing your programs to crash so consistently.
