It was written to live on a couple of, what were they, RS/6000 computers, if you
rewrote the program to live on a 450mhz PC, then you would no longer be talking
about Deep(er) Blue, they might have to rename it Shallow Blue.

I used to wonder why IBM never released PC Chess software, but by now my take on
that is that they know they couldn't compete with the big dogs on the porch, and
it's never really been a target market of theirs.

I interperate their using Chess' marketing potential as far as constantly
reminding us of Deep Blue, is no different than the _somewhat_ subliminal use of
Chess in TV comercials for the purpose of making dumb acters apear smarter than
they actually are.  Most people don't realize that playing Chess doesn't
indicate much about inteligence, but IBM knows that it sells computers.
