Sure, I've tested it (registered it, too). The demo is limited to 1 second per
move after move 20, but it does fine.

Specifically, I played a 10 game match with the demo against PocketChess 1.1
for the Palm, giving PocketChess 1.1 3-4 seconds/move. PocketChess won 9-1,
despite the time handicap.

Chess Genius has a lot more features than PocketChess, too: it displays
eval, PV, last 8 moves, White/Black time used. Unlike PocketChess, Chess
Genius understands underpromotion, draw by 50 move rule or triple repetition,
and will capture en passant itself when appropriate. It also has 40 levels (up
to 3 minutes/move).

Richard Lang says that Chess Genius Palm uses the Mephisto Roma engine,
unchanged. The SSDF rating list places the Mephisto Roma at 2030 +/- 27 ELO (see
URL and table sample at bottom). This is on a 68020 at 14 MHz - the Palm uses a
680X0 at 16 MHz, so I imagine they are comparable. Chess Genius Palm does not
use "permanent brain", and the Mephisto Roma might have - if so, that would
knock off a bit (?30 Elo, maybe?) Notice that this is at SSDF time control (40
moves in 2 hours, or 3 minutes/move).

Genius is almost as strong as the Sapphire/Sapphire II standalones (see SSDF
table below) but for those with a Palm, the $25 registration for Chess Genius is
a lot less, too.

Chess Genius displays eval, PV, last 8 moves, White/Black time used.
