MFC is far from perfect (or even good) but there are reasons to use it.  It
encourages the use of OOP which is a superior programming method to procedural
programming (easier to make changes, better reusability, more elegant, much
better for GUIs, used in modern languages like Java, see "Software Performance
Reviews" for the studies showing OOP’s superiority).  If nothing else, MFC's
message delegation alone makes it worth using.
