Sorry to ask something here that might well be a FAQ or something very
controversial but this really only is an innocent question !

I understand the concern about possible monkeying with the winboard source but
how about auto232 ?

I learnt from some Readme files of freeware programs that read like : "Thanks to
Eugene Nalimov for tablebases and to Stefan Mayer-Kahlen for the auto232-code "

I also understand that Chessbase did an own implementation of auto232 which was
controversial to some ?!

But , what I can't understand : the programmer ( who has posted himself that he
used auto232 to prepare for the world championship ) points out some problems
with "every version of the autoplayer he has seen ( not literary quoted ) ."

Why is this controversial ? Shouldn't he know ??

Please : take this as what it is : this is a _question_ ; I never was involved
in those discussions so don't know about those controversial things too much ;
simply curious.
