I don't see the need for mud-slinging myself, it's pretty childish. Although it reflects mostly on the people who sling the mud, it's generally unpleasant, and I don't see what else this topic could generate. May as well ask who is the ugliest programmer if you want something irrelevant that encourages rancorous debate. ;) >I think there is room for just about any topic that has any margin of being >related to computer chess, even "How do I make the best ChessMaster >personality?" >;-) > >"What's the best <anything>?" is little more than an opening to voice our >opinions about what is important to us. Perhaps some programmers will read our lists of likes and >dislikes and add important features like -- say -- Processing EPD. I'm surprised no one else has added the custom position-assessment feature that Crafty now has, i.e. the ability to stuff a position value into the hash table and have it "stick", so the program stops recommending lines that go bad over its horizon, etc. Great feature for deep analysis of a particular position.
