I agree that chessmaster is a different case but I believe that if you do not
include Chessmaster then Fritz is the most popular program because it is number
1 most of the time.

I believe that if the other factors are the same then being number 1 is
important.

I believe that the main reason for the fact that Fritz is more popular than
other chessbase engines is the fact that Fritz is number 1.

I guess that it is more popular than other programs like Shredder because of
this reason.

 The people that buy the SSDF list leader own typically

I do not know.
The people in this forum do not represent most of the buyers.

I think that I am going to buy number 1 when I buy new programs(probably when
the final of the correspondence chess of Israel begins next year).
I am not sure if I am going to buy number 2 even in case that I am going to buy
more than one program.
