That's the way I look at it - the developer has put a part of his "baby"
in my care and is trusting my confidentiality and judgement. I owe it to him
(her) to do my best to test the features and strength of the program, and to
look for "bugs" and to provide plaudits for good new features. I also owe it to
the developer to say nothing unauthorized by the developer. I think the
developer should be releasing or withholding data on the new program to/from
the public. Not I. No word about the new "baby" gets released to friends
or the public by me.

I have enjoyed the beta testing I have done for a couple of software
developers and appreciate their trust in me.

Sometimes, I didn't like the time commitment I felt was necessary, but I
think that time demand is a necessity to do a good job.
