Hi Bob: Probably you also tried this idea long ago, but just in case I wonder if Crafty could, if he is playing with a negative score that clearly go towards defeat, let us say, -5, could not, in that case, just abandon the regular search device and instead of trying to get the best available move according to the normal criteria of the code, try to get the most difficult one for the opponent. I mean, the kind of moves that although flawed, are difficult to answer. I suppose this could be done if we define "difficult answer" as a move that produces a wider number of very similar moves in score, so the opponet must choose in a more tricky area of posibilities. At least this approach perhaps could be useful againts human players. If you already tried or dismissed this idea, no matter, you welcome :-( Fernando
