I don't know if I've already posted this link before, but here it is again:

It's a rough strength estimate of various WinBoard engines. Skaki is mentioned
as well and you might want to test programs under the same "crown" category.

Another option would be to try some of the programs available at

http://www.gambitsoft.com/sharee.htm

This would be trial and error as I'm not familiar with most of the programs
available for download there, nor their actual strength. Maybe old versions of
GNUChess, KChess and Gromit could be useful to try. The same goes for Nero and
Raffaela IMO.
