I think if you demphasize king safety you're going to get killed even at very deep search depths, because lots of king safety flaws tend to be very persistent. If you allow a static central pawn structure and give your opponent k-side targets, they will simply push their k-side pawns, move some pieces behind the pawns, then move everything forward until your program looks up and sees a safe or an anvil or a big rock falling from the sky. I think most positional defects you can name can result in long-term problems that aren't easily understandable with search. bruce
