No.  Don's idea had a couple of implementation issues I didn't want
to fool with.  But I use his basic idea of null-move search (Selective
search without tears, Beal, some issue of Advances in Computer Chess)
in Crafty.  But I don't do the quiescence-search idea he proposed...
