As the issue is here, why don't we have something of this nature ? Well, in fact as far as I know, the SSDF does not actually charge anyone, nor do they endorse any products. They only review the programs and post their results ( we are all aware of the accusations flying around, so please don't add any of that in a remark, please). As far as I know , the only thing they do differently is apparently allowing programers to use the results in commercial efforts/ advertising, although I can't recall ever having bought a program with any mention of its SSDF rating or achievements. Usually they include some reference as to whom the program has beaten ( or say they have beaten, as Extreme has never beaten Kasparov to my knowledge), or to tournament results when they indicate that the program is performing at GM strength ( although I can probably gaurantee that the Fritz box won't ever mention that lovely 15th place they recently scored). So, do we need to try to establish such a group ? I would like to have this as the topic of this particular discussion.
