you have your own opinion. no problem with that.

right. we can only guess.
but i think the results give indicators that the style HAS a significant
influence on the outcome.
i think in human chess it is the same.
some people have problems against each other not because the other guy is
stronger, but because he plays a style they cannot handle.
it's all relative. nothing is absolutely STRONGER.
this is the main mistake. people believe somebody with elo 2700 is weaker
than somebody with elo 2800, and they guess if those guys play against each
other the 2800 will kill the 2700. but thats not the case .
if the 2800 does not like the style of the 2700 he can lose almost any match.
we have the same effect in computerchess too.
this makes computerchess development that difficult. because testing methods
are complicate and need time. therefore i do not accept to measure by testing a
version n against n-1 version.

?!?!?!?!? nobody knows.

right.

>You think you know better than me?

i think style is a kind of strength, maybe a qualitative effect.
elo measures results, quality measures style.

you can make 2000,- DM with a chess program in a fair way, and in an unfair
way.

if you do it fair, the style you do it has a higher quality to me.

if somebody gets 2800 by playing computerchess, his playing has a lower
quality, or ?

if another guy gets 2800 but plays in another style, that is senseful,
i think he plays a different quality of chess.

if you buy wine the price could be an indicator for quality. but it is not
guaranted.
