Go up one level in this thread

since i am new here (about three years now), i do not know why you are the
subject of negative remarks and jokes.

i have read the comments of other posts here that make fun of you, and since i
dont know what has happened in the past, then i dont know why some posts here do
not respect you.

i know we all are on different levels of chess understanding and theory.
and we all have different ideas about programs, and the people that post here.

because of the level i am on, your post is very impressive.
very entertaining to read.
very informative.

maybe some of the negative posted here about you is due to some programmers here
not able to play on your level. not sure why.

i guess since your post is very impressive to me, and i have complimented you
and your program in a positive way, then i also will be on "their list" of
jokes.

by the way, you probably dont remember me, but i purchased your program two
years ago, diep.

there are a lot of people here that come to read daily.
most dont know what C++ is. and most like to read any technical posts that they
might pick up some understanding of comp chess that they did not know before.

some of the regulars here that post often, and including the programmers, cause
the daily (non-programming)readers to think they know them. this is a common
feeling at any internet site where there are people that frequent a site often.
we tend to view each other a certain way.

this caused a problem for me one time.

i do not know robert hyatt at all. never met him. do not know what kind of
person he is. do not know any in his family. no one has told me a story about
him to feel any negative about him. i do not know him period.

but....because of how i perceived him as a person due to some of his negative
remarks here, and how he chooses to post sometimes, this caused me to handle a
situation that happened at chess.net in a way that i would not do again.

the program i used to play crafty, won.
i make all manual moves at chess.net.
i had no idea robert would let someone else attend his program.
but he did.
the remarks that this person made to me after the crafty loss at chess.net,
made me think it was robert.

why----because it sounded like some of his posts here. i thought for sure it was
him. the remarks were not pleasent at all. i was told my profile "notes" were
not true. the operator didnt think i made manual moves.

well come to find out, it was not robert that messaged me.
the whole thing was a misunderstanding by three people.
roberts follow up post on this matter with an explanation of how it happened
was very classy. so not that it matters to him or anyone here, but now i look at
him different than i did.

we have many things in our lives. cars, jobs, families, bills, houses,
friends, etc. if this forum is also a part of your life and you read it daily
like i do, then the posts here can affect the way we view each other
tremendously.

i dont know who here has hair on there head and who is bald.
and i dont know who here showers daily or once a week.
or weather you prefer a 6'1 redhead or a short blond. (myself, a good looking
redhead drives me crazy)

but some of you, by your words and the way you come across in your posts
make us view you in certain ways.

not that this matters, and most wont care, this place has been here for years,
but i just wanted to post this.
dont intend to offend anyone.
dont intend to post anything you dont already know.
just wanted to share with you the influence some here have on the nobodies like
me.
