No, when installing it it will be configured automatically (read from CD); but you can decide to transfer them to your hard disk. In that case you have to rerout this through the ini-file. >A top chess engine should *never* miss a mate in two. TBs or not, Nullmove or >not... Don't get me wrong: you are right. And Uli is right. It has nothing to do with a bug, as a bug is a failure of an engine not designed to act like this. If you leave out code for finding mates other routines might take over and give these weird results. It's simply so because the programmer obviously decided that the engine didn't need code for mating when tablebases can kick in. So no, it's not a bug, but yes, it is doubtfull if it's a right decision in this stage to leave out code for these simple mates. It's like a car delivered with paper road maps. When mounting a GPS system and leaving out the paper maps you could decide to switch off GPS and declare the car to be having a serious flaw as it isn't deliverd with paper maps. That CAN be a dumb option, as paper maps are a real good backup, but it was a decision of the manufacturer to leave out the paper maps and replace it with a GPS finder system. >I'm afraid we must call it a bug IMO. But if you are satisfied with engines, >that need GigaBytes of data for a correct 3 ply search... it's your choice. Again, no bug, but bad decision. J.
