yes i have lots of wins with shredder5. yes i have lots of wins with tiger 14. and gambit tiger has shown me it can win against any top program with a good opening. and now deep fritz is very strong also. but my most entertaining game this year was the deep junior vs shredder game at the computer olympiad. amazing game with stefan at the controls. but there have been others with deep junior. sometimes deep junior is evaluating a line that the other programs are not, and then when it is too late the eval of the opponent will finally take a nose dive and tell deep junior "ohhh i see what you mean". i do not understand shredder 5 eval sometimes. and i do not not understand deep junior eval sometimes. but i have seen gambit tiger and deep junior in long games make shredder eval look very bad during and at the game end. i dont know how many people here are doing this with two computers. i have been playing the top programs against each other with two very strong computers. i have the monitors side by side, so i am able to watch the evals during "thinking" and "pondering", for every move of both programs. it is amazing how the top programs can be so different during actual game play. it seems most programs play very sound, with sacs, king protection, center control, passed pawns, etc. but deep junior seems it can win in very risky lines. and i assume it can also lose these too. if i had to choose a program to play a GM, maybe it would be tiger 14 or deep fritz. i dont think i would choose deep junior to play my GM game. but for entertainment in comp-comp games on long time control it is tops for now for wild eval swings. kburcham
