I think there will be a large number of endgame positions that will be unsolvable for some time to come. Even with tablebases. The Fritz-Ham engame is one of those. And a good number of drawn positions that will be given a large score, see the 'Is this position drawn' for a possible example. And thus any nuber of middlegame positions can be constructed where a program will choose the wrong continuation due to misevaluation. Computers are in fact weak at long combinations, and there are many examples of humans outsearching them in a big way. In short, your belief in the tactical strenght of programs have litte basis in facts. They still beat the pants of humans due to errors made. MvH Dan Andersson
