Is the pgcc even better than VC++? You don't mean 10%-15% better than
gcc?

What about other commercial compilers for linux? I know that The
Portland Group <http://www.pgroup.com/> has compilers for linux-x86 and
solars-x86. Does anyone know how they perform compared to gcc, pgcc or
VC?
