Cheating has clearly happened before. The cheaters have always been caught. I know most of the people participating on the list. Anyone I don't know who happened to win would come under enormous scrutiny. I simply don't believe that anyone would cheat if the simplest of precautions were taken. Not that I have enormous faith in humans to behave themselves. But this particular set is above average. It takes me about 20 minutes to know for sure whether one program or another is a clone of someone else's program. If you stay away from this contest for fear of cheaters, then I think you are a true coward.
