Go up one level in this thread

Yes we use the EURO in Guadeloupe, which is a french departement (so Guadeloupe is France). We use it also in Guyane, Martinique, La Réunion and Saint Martin, which are also french overseas departements (actually Saint Martin is considered as being a part of Guadeloupe, at least the french side of it). Take an EURO banknote and look very carefully. You will see a picture of Guadeloupe, Guyane, Martinique and La Réunion on all of them (under the Europe map). >Do You like it? Yes. I'm glad to use a currency that will be as strong as the US dollar. Not that I do not like the US$. I earn money in US$ too, and the fact that the EURO and the US$ are almost at the same level makes it easier for me to "think in US$". > We have it here in Finland and now everything >is so cheap because of about 6 change ratio! Same here. One EURO = 6.55957 french Franc. It's just a little bit cryptic now (personally I do not know how to multiply or divide by 6.55957), but it will get better when we are all used to the prices in EURO. Then it will be a pleasure to talk about money with european friends, because we will understand each other without having to grab a calculator! Same with american friends, as long as the US$ and the EURO are almost at the same level. > Sadly no neighbourhood countries >use euro yet. It's just a matter of time. Even if they don't like it they will have to use it. Look at the number of countries around the USA that just love the US$ now. :) (Cuba comes to mind, and that's a very funny example) Christophe
