In the SSDF thread below, Thoralf explains the SSDF will sometimes test an amateur, or non-commercial program (as they did with Crafty already): http://www.icdchess.com/forums/1/message.shtml?213783 It seems unlikely that they will have the time to test more than one, if any, of the available strong amateur engines. So I thought maybe it would be a good idea for a poll question. Which amateur engine should to be tested by the SSDF? A list of at least 10 *available* strong amateur engines should be offered, to choose from. I'm not sure if it would make sense to demand tests of an engine unavailable to the public (?). Anyway, to include such engines in the poll, it would be necessary beforehand to know IMO, if the programmer is willing to provide a copy to the SSDF for testing. Of course SSDF members will decide themselves, if and which program they will test, but the poll results could probably be a good basis to decide which one to choose if they want to.
