For me, it would be worth solving chess just to see what a perfectly played game would be like. I suppose it's the same reason we go to see a suspense movie, because we don't know what happens and we want to know. It's probably a draw if played perfectly, but there's a chance it might not be. And even if it's not a draw, there might be many opening moves that will not lead to a draw if the game continued perfectly. To me, that alone is enough. If nothing else, I would laugh when I played 1. Nc3 and the program anounced mate in 437. I'm easily entertained, as you can see :) Russell
