I agree with your reasoning about getting the the king into a safe corner.
If that can happen then I think it is all over for white. But as you say, it is
not so simple. It doesn't seem fair somehow that white is able to hang on(unless
I'm missing something) because of the Rook deficit. While Rxe6 may not be the
"best move" I can't yet conclude that Rxe6 is unsound.

Your lucky to get Junior 5. I'm pretty sure my next software purchases will
be Rebel 10 and Junior 5.

I'm going to dig up another game I've been wanting to post here. It is a
game played by GM John Nunn. He made some moves and all my chess programs if
they
could speak would say, "what a blunder!". The eval however slowly equals out
as Nunn's pieces become very active after he sacrificed a Queen and pawn for
two minor pieces.
