It sounds like you are right.  I was responding to his post directly
and should have payed more attention to the whole context of the
discussion.  I notice a lot of this in the group and sometimes just
plain misunderstanding.   So Ed never really refused to play, he
just didn't think Rebel10 was ready for it.

At any rate, I suspect Ferret is a top program, based on it's
excellent results on the chess servers.  Also Roman told me
that he was very impressed with Ferret so my feeling (without
actually knowing this) is that Ferret is a worthy adversary too.
