I have had a chance to watch Fritz 5 probably as much as anyone other than
the beta testers, perhaps, because I play it all the time on the various
chess servers.  To my pretty well practiced eye, the powerbook seems to
really be a good book for Fritz.  IE I rarely see it get bad opening
positions for either black or white, which is really all you can ask of your
book anyway.  The standard book seems (to me, anyway) to be worse.  I have
seen Fritz come out of book (standard book) completely busted and lost.  I
don't recall such a game when my opponent was using the powerbook.  It must
represent a good bit of work to behave like that, no doubt...
