Ok, it seems i was calculating branching factor differently than others are. My thinking was the branching factor was branching factor^depth=nodes searched. This does not seem to be the criteria people are generally using. If you compare the node increase between plies, my BF seems to be three. However, i think the formulaic approach is more correct, i should not have the wide oscilations the other echnique seems to. Well, i feel better now. It seems like good statistics are hard to come by, though. dave
