But CDs can easily be damaged through normal use. Though I treat all my CDs with tender loving care, my original CM6000 CDs have gotten fairly scratched up over the years. A few years back I burned my own copy which I now use alternately with the original set. Indeed, as another poster has well stated, we're buying intellectual property here (or more accurately--the right to use it).
