Perhaps it is conceivable that some expert in programming with a lot of patience and a lot of trial and error attempts may be able to crack for instance the interface between Fritz engine and GUI. If he is really an expert, he perhaps can even succeed to link the engine dll statically into his program. Perhaps it's now in principle even possible that he succeeds to implement the uci and winboard protocol in the part wrapping the Fritz dll. But may be it's more likely that a Comet will hit us tommorrow than someone following this procedure ? And all this in order to release a freeware engine ? Uli
