They're competing with 1997 DB, not the 1980 Fidelity Travelmaster!

Junior has already obtained draws/wins against top players at Dortmund - that
PCs can do this against top players is already old news.

Obtaining a draw against an opponent who's not even TRYING to win is hardly an
"excellent result".

* According to the Chessbase report (currently the top story at
www.chessbase.com) the Fritz team were disappointed.

* Yesterday's game almost eliminates the possibility that Fritz can win (DB
obtained all of its wins against GK with white, and I think that Fritz will have
to do the same)

* The match is going 100% to Kramnik's game plan

* Kramnik has, IN THE VERY FIRST GAME, exposed a fundamntal flaw in Fritz which
cannot now be corrected. They cannot even do any sort of meaningful workaround -
they're sunk.

* All the fun of the possibility of Fritz winning a game in the match has
already gone

In fact, on reflection, the word "unfortunately" was an understatement.
