According to you, and you ONLY...

The average "joe" isn't going to know or care who Frans Morsch and his team are.
The majority of the general public doens't even know this match is going on. Of
those who have heard about it, the vast majority will never visit chessbase.com
of read your post. Of those who will actually see that picture, probably almost
all have heard of Frans Morsch before, and (unless they are highly immature)
will not have their opinion of the man swayed by a picture taken in good fun.
Even _IF_ (big if) it was a bad thing for them to do, their punishment is the
bad publicity it would give them from "joe" seeing that picture. That is the
"punishment", not you posting what jerks they are here. It sounds to me like you
just have some alterior motive to put Frans Morsch in a bad light here.

You obviously aren't one who can accurately determine what is childish and what
is not. If you had that ability, you wouldn't have posted this in the first
place. It seems awfully childish to attack someone for having their picture
taken with sunglasses on. And who is to say it was their idea? Maybe it was
chessbase. Do you know this for a fact? Do you know the exact circumstances
surrounding this situation? Even if you were physically present when the picture
was taken, that doens't mean you know what's going on.

I imagine the only people who would throw a fit would be you and Garry. I don't
think anyone would care, unless of course they had this personal agenda with
IBM, then it would probably drive that person nuts :)

Maybe their goal isn't what you think it should be. You seem to be basing what
is right and wrong on your personal opinion. You think it's childish, you think
this isn't helping computer chess, you think it's hurting the "computer chess
enterprise"...so what?

Did you personally see Frans Morsch ftp into the chessbase web server and upload
this picture? Somehow I don't think you witnessed that...

Well, Ed, it is a GAME last time I checked. Someone needs a chill pill...

You sound like you're about to have a heart attack over this, and you don't even
know the circumstances in which the picture was taken (as another poster said,
it was in fact taken before their win), you don't know who is responsible for
posting it on the chessbase website, and you're basing this entire thing on your
opinion that "it's childish". It seems like everyone else looks at that picture
and thinks, "hah, those silly guys." while you're ready to put the fall of
computer chess on the shoulders of the Fritz team.

At the end of the day, when you take all that the Fritz team has done for
computer chess, and you subtract all of the horrible things that happen such as
taking pictures wearing sunglasses, the Fritz team has still done more for
computer chess than 90% of us here put together.

What do you expect them to be doing? They aren't playing. They aren't allowed to
change the program during the match. They're just spectating like the rest of
us. If a picture of Kramnik was posted in which he was drunk with his arms
around party girls, and he lost the next day, that's something to talk about. A
couple of computer chess guys wearing sunglasses isn't big news IMO.
