It is assumed (and known) that White has an advantage at the start of the game (The first move). So it is logical to think that we should reward Black if he (or she) succeed in neutrilizing white's advantage. Another thing is that while we agree that unbalanced positions favor good fights, unbalanced draws scores would make interesting tournaments too. A strong player would think twice before offering a draw to a weaker player when playing White. I personally don't like draw games (as a spectator). Draws by agreement, in particular, are always suspicious to me. Specialy at higher level. NMB
