This could be partly due Shredder's ability to probe ending game table base.  I
tend to find that, in its analysis window, the tb numbers are much bigger than
other engines.  I just ran RR tournament with 6 top engines (300 games) and the
winner is Shredder!  (Blitz 5 mins, Athlon XP 1600, tb, 128 Meg RAM).

I found that a 5 min game on a cheap Athlon XP 1600 is like a 15 min game on my
older PIII 500 (Fritz marks shows a little more than 3 times faster).  Given the
short time of 5 mins, the game play is still quite good.  I wonder if anyone had
found the same.
