Once stuff gets optimized for the Opteron it'll be much faster, they've got a
compiler in the works that increases performance quite a bit. Its foolish to
base the performance of the chip off unoptimized applications. The P4 needs
optimizations as well, otherwise it gets smoked by the Athlon in everything.
Also, AMD does have a good selling point no matter what.. "64bit". Most people
that walk into a store and ask a sales clerk will be like, "Whats the best thing
to get?".. They'll respond, "This one has a 64bit cpu!!" or something similar.
