I am quite sure that the computers would hardly ever win a game

Kurt, actually this is not so easy.
The opponents of Brutus for example dont know the opening book and they dont
know anything about the Computer. Brutus does not use a broad commercial book.

Playing a boring game against a computer with white is usually relatively easy.

However, do you have any conception with the black pieces against 1.e4?
This is eventually the move you will have to face in 90% of the cases.
You might be lost already before the computer is out of book.

1...e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 is probably not advisable unless you can handle the Berlin
Variation as good as Kramnik did.
The Petroff might be better, but even there you will almost certainly encounter
difficulties against the machine because white has a small advantage there.

The French defence was a perfect Anti-Computer opening some years ago.
Things have changed and it might be very dangerous to play it now.
The French defence is under severe pressure these days.

The same applies for the Caro-Kann. It can be very hard to cope with 3.Sc3
against the machine.

Pirc/Modern is not everybody's taste

and finally 1...c5
well....
