A CCT-like event would be preferable. I get the impression that most people agree. It could be done similar to the European internet championship that they had recently (I'm not sure if that is the actual name). During the first part of the tournament (maybe they were qualifier rounds) they allowed anyone to participate. The young man from the U.S. actually won the tournament, but was not allowed to participate in the final portion of the event, which was restricted to Europe (or wherever). I don't remember all of the details, but that's beside the point. It could be made into a two weekend CCT-style event, with the first weekend being an open weekend of qualifiers, if they're needed, and the second weekend the final tournament restricted to authors from North America. I'm afraid that there won't be very many participants in a month long event, or that it won't be very enjoyable for the participants who will be at work while the majority of the event is going on, and unable to interact with the other authors.
