I don't think the "special conditions" were out of bonds.> The special conditions may not have been any more out of bounds than Karpov's rules for challenging him for the F.I.D.E. world championship. Yet, almost all who observed that tournament felt it was unfair. There was a perceived advantage for Karpov. Fritz may have had no advantage due to the secret autoplayer, but Chessbase invited the speculation when they changed the rules, especially in light of the Genius 4 problems. While I agree with you that Thorsten goes beyond speculation in his statements, I see no one else on CCC that has done anything else other than to complain about what they perceive to be an unfair tactic by Chessbase. I have no interest in who is number one on the SSDF list, as I own and like several programs, including Fritz. I do have an interest in standardization of features for ease of computer chess program communication, and the secret autoplayer is a bad idea for this, and so I am happy that there will be a public autoplayer for future releases. I do hope it will work without bugs, however. Therefore, I would like to thank Amir for his investigation of this problem. kp
