If you did not intend it to be that way, I am happy to hear that. But then you engage in a little "Mark Antony routine", with a word like "oddball" tossed in for good measure :) My point is that 8x8 chess has been around for a long time, perhaps too long. Change is good. Change is gradual. Look at the whole "castling" fight that was around for decades. Italians players like freeform castling, moving the king any two squares (diagonally or vertically also). It took a while for them to come around. Who is to say that Gothic Chess is not the next stage of the evolution? Time will tell.
