When I try to translate it to english-english translation based on my understanding of the word then I get that ignorant is somebody who did not learn. For example an adult who never learned to read or write is ignorant It does not mean that he is a moron because saying that some adult never learned does not mean that he has no potential to learn. A lot of women in afganistan are ignorant because they were not allowed to read or write and it does not mean that they have not the potential to learn. moron is translated to stupid or someone with a low IQ that seems to me worse than ignorant but both are insults.
