It is applied in almost exactly the same way as in Fruit. I use the total non-pawn material on the board as the input to a linear interpolation. There are also some middlegame evaluation components which are scaled with respect to material, independently of the blending between middlegame and endgame. For instance, the king safety component of the middlegame eval is scaled by the opponent's non-pawn material. Tord
