This is perfectlly fine. Single CPU systems which are expertly programmed still
can score the upsets and win big games. But we expect bigger hardware systems
for stronger chess, which we got. And at least one program can run on HUGE
hardware, but did not.

I see this whole line of bogus reasoning as whining, because people know that if
a certain program shows up next year, it will likely have the biggest hardware.
Anyone not directly involved with another engine wants to see that, because the
strongest, fastest, deepest searching engine is what we all want to see. Those
who have their own engines to enter don't want that for obvious reasons. So
they start whining early and often. Very childish, IMO.

Remember, the first WCCCs all ran on the biggest hardware available. All of us
"disinterested" computer chess enthusiasts want to see that again. We don't
want the WCCC to cater to whiners on small hardware. We want the best of the
best, the strongest of the strongest. It is basic intellectual curiosity. If
you are into computer chess for any other reason, then I personally don't care
if you enter or not.

The human world championship does not cater to those with weaker grey cells.
Neither should the computer championship.
