it seems that not very many countries take a strong interest in computer chess
The US ,Germany,Holland seem to be the ones with the most interest
then perhaps Great Britian ,Israel,France ,Canada and Ireland

we see very little from Austraila ,Eastern Europe,Spain ,Portugal,Mexico and
South America in general

not to even mention Africa,China etc etc

at first blush the quick response would be that ,those countries are not so up
to speed with computer technology in general so it only stands to reason they
are not into computer chess

but i think its something more..
in all of my years collecting the old chess computers, the vast majority of
collectors come from either the US or Germany

Fidelity even had a satellite office in Germany from the early days to sell
their computers

and yet Chess in general is popular in many countries worldwide

any thoughts on this?
Steve
